Welcome to Queer Thoughts

Being gay means very different things to many different people, and I don't claim to represent all views. Gay people are as diverse as the whole of society. I am providing the facts that I am aware of along with my own perspective on living in America and today's world while being gay. Despite many advances, I still believe growing up gay and being out in America is still very difficult and often, unfortunately, very dangerous. Stereotypes abound. I hope to dispel some of the myths and misinformation that exist, such as that gay men and women aren't or can't be People of Faith (Christian or otherwise), or the myth of the "gay agenda."

I use both the word "gay" and the word "queer" in my pages for two main reasons:
1) I personally prefer the term gay, so I'm most comfortable with it. Also, some find the term "queer" offensive.
2) However, others find the term "queer" more inclusive. Also, I like queer's secondary meaning of "strange" or "unusual."
