This page is dedicated to comics that I read on some kind of regular basis (depending on their publishing schedule). I don't cover graphic novels or trade paperback collections here, only serialized books. Serialization includes limited series or irregularlly published books, just as long as they have a sequential publishing schedule. TPBs and graphic novels are covered on this page.

Almost everything I read I would recommend, or I wouldn't be reading it. Of course not everything suites everybody's taste, so I provide commentary to help you pick something you think you might enjoy as well.

Astonishing X-Men Marvel Joss Whedon/Cassady - the dream team - some throwback to early X-men days, but overall a very good read and the best Kitty Pride ever!
Astro City DC/Homage (Qrt) - Busiek /Brent Anderson- unusual takes on super hero icons and scenarios
BPRD Dark Horse Mike Mignola returns to Hellboy-related writing with atmospheric Guy Davis supply the creepy art
Conan Dark Horse Busiek/Cary Nord - Beautiful artwork and compelling adaptations of the original Conan stories. Fantasy adventure at its best. More info here.
Daredevil Marvel Bendis/Alex Maleev - Daredevil as it should be written - w/a heavy noir feel - best since Frank Miller wrote
District X Marvel David Hine/Lan Medina - what two X-books for me? This is a great read - not your typical X-venture. Think NYPD Blue, The Shield, or Hill Street Blues meets mutants
Hellboy Dark Horse (Lmtd) Mike Mignola - somewhat of a cheat since right now all that is being published is "Weird Tales" an anthology that isn't so great. But when Mike puts out new Hellboy - they are fantastic!
Invincible Image Robert Kirkman/Cory Walker- a fun series about a teenage superhero whose dad is also a professional superhero with many surprising twists and turns
Planetary DC/Wildstorm (Lmtd) Warren Ellis/John Cassaday - possibly the longest running limited ever - the few issues left will probably take another six months to come out - but they are GREAT and definitely worth the wait - what if everything you knew about superheroes and pulp heroes was turned on its head? - MATURE
Powers Marvel/Icon Bendis/Mike Oeming - a police drama w/superheroes - this is a fantastic read but definitely for adults only - fantastic dialogue and shocking stories - about to reboot to Vol 2 given a radical change in the status quo - ADULT
Supreme Power Marvel/MAX Straczinsky/Gary Frank - the way the JLA should be written - an examination of politics and every-da life influenced by the sudden incursion of super-powered beings - FANTASTIC -ADULT
True Story Swear to God Clib's Boy (Qrt) Tom Beland - a wonderfully touching and funny romance comic - read this! - MATURE
Ultimates, The Marvel Mark Miller/Bryan Hitch - the Avengers reinvisioned with modern sensibilities - this is a good series w/great art, but is chronically late - so late my interest wanes, but "Greenpeace" Thor and "Matrix" Hawkeye keep me coming back for more - MATURE
Ultimate Spider-Man Marvel Bendis/Mark Bagley - the BEST Spider-Man since Roger Stern/JRJR at least!! Dialogue and characterization that can't be beat - not as much action as some people want, but this is the one title I could not do without. I would drop everything else before this one.

Good Series I Collect in Trades Only
Some comics read better collected; sometimes my wallet has to wait for the collection

Queen and Country Oni Greg Rucka/Various - this is a GREAT series about covert British intelligence - in particularl Tara Chance a lead female agent - ADULT
Lucifer DC/Vertigo Mike Carey/Various - the former prince of hell from the Sandman series still plots and conives in the closest thing to Sandman available now - ADULT
Fables DC/Vertigo Bill Willingham/ Mark Buckingham - the characters from our fairy tales live among us in secret - MATURE
Age of Bronze Image Eric Shanower - only one trade is out so far, but I plan on picking this retelling of the Trojan War in collected form so I can read the epic in one big epic chunk
Courtney Crumrin Oni Ted Natif - this is Harry Potter and Leave it to Chance darker and more goth. So much fun, genuinely creepy at parts, and a good read for all ages
