Overview: The development of these biochemical pharmacology labs was done to meet the needs of a growing workforce and allow for the reorganization of a larger pharmacology department into smaller, specialized work teams with adequate research and office space. Project included the demolition of existing retail and office space and the installation of laboratory equipment, hoods, biological materials handling rooms, and related HVAC systems.

Organic Chemistry Research Laboratories

Timeline: 8 months allocated; delivered in 7 months

Role: Space Designer / Project Coordinator

Overview: This project was commissioned to redevelop existing office space into laboratory space which would conform to all California EPA and U.S. Federal EPA regulations for the handling of chemicals used in the research and development of pharmaceutical products. Project included the demolition of all existing construction (including restrooms), the correction of ADA deficiencies, the installation of laboratory equipment, hoods, and related HVAC systems.

Formulations Laboratory (Pre-Clinical Development)

Total Budget: $500,000 (delivered at budget)

Timeline: 4 months (planning through completion)

Role: General Project Manager

Overview: To meet the need of the client, a biopharmaceutical firm, this project was designed to accommodate an FDA certified pre-clinical development environment. The finished space included a storage area and high-security storage area for Class 1 narcotics, a formulations laboratory, and a stability chambers laboratory. Project included the conversion of a retail mail-order pharmacy operation space into laboratory space. Also included significant building exterior modifications (removal of windows, installation of loading docks, and installation of secure entrance vestibule).

Pharmacokinetics Research Laboratory

Total Square Footage: 3,000 sq.ft.

Total Budget: $500,000 (delivered at budget)

Timeline: 2 months (planning through completion)

Role: Project Assistant

Overview: This project was undertaken to build out existing, but not finished, space on the company's campus to accommodate a pharmacokinetics research lab. Project focused primarily on finishing out the rough space, adding necessary HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, and lab furnishings.
