Educational Facility Design & Construction Projects

The educational facility design and construction projects area has been designed to let you see some of my design work in the physical world for educational clients.

 

Classroom Technology Accessibility Upgrades

College of Law Smart Podium

Total Square Footage: 13 rooms of various sizes

Total Budget: $308,000 (delivered under budget $260,000)

Timeline: 2 years (planning through completion)

Role: Co-Project Manager

Overview: This project involved retrofitting 6 classrooms, 4 lecture halls, a conference room, and 2 training labs with state-of-the-art presentation and instructional technologies. A Smart Podium was custom designed for the project and included a PC, a VCR, a sound system, a smart dry board, an LCD projector, and convenience inputs, all routed through an integrated control system. Responsibilities included designing the custom podiums, specifying all equipment, cabling runs, and control system programming, and overseeing the project construction (coring, cabling, electrical, and lighting) and related budgets. Student Computing Laboratory Renovation and Expansion

Student Computing Laboratory

Total Square Footage: 2000 sq.ft.

Total Budget: $75,000 (delivered at budget)

Timeline: 6 months (planning through completion)

Role: Co-Project Manager

Overview: The College of Law's Student Computing Laboratory located in the College's Law Library had been operating at over-capacity for several years. This project was commissioned to double the number of available workstations and printer stations for law students. Funded through two Student Technology Fee grants and the Dean's discretionary fund, the lab was doubled in physical size and hardware capacity while a laptop/student PC support center were also added. Responsibilities included specifying all new furniture, designing custom millwork, and designing the floor plan for the new space.

   
   

Technology Training Laboratory Renovation

Total Square Footage: 800 sq.ft.

Total Budget: $50,000 (delivered at budget)

Timeline: 6 months (planning through completion)

Role: General Project Manager

Overview: The Technology Training Laboratory renovation project was undertaken primarily to upgrade the computer systems and networking/power systems to the student workstations. An instructor station, printing station, and projection system were also installed as a part of this project. Responsibilities included project management oversight for the delivery of the project, budget management, and management of vendors installing projectors, cabling, and power solutions. Funded through GSU's Student Technology Fee grants.
