Professional Facilities Management Experience

Over the past ten years, my career has evolved through several major experience areas: technology, teaching, human resources, and management. Yet, in each of these areas, I have found that my ability to manage the physical space that each of these tasks occurs within has been of the greatest value. This page details my experience and knowledge with facilities and operations management.

 

Major Facilities Managed
~ Research & Development environment - campus style, multiple building property (100,000 sq.ft.)
~ World Headquarters facility - two building, mid-rise property (120,000 sq.ft.)
~ FDA certified manufacturing environment - for prototype pharmaceutical production (10,000 sq.ft.)
~ Office facility for a creative services firm - single building, two-story (12,000 sq.ft.)
~ Classroom and training labs for a state university academic unit - 14 high-technology rooms

 

Property Management Skills
~ Planning and coordinating Moves, Adds, and Changes with churn rates of up to 100%
~ Space allocation coordination between departments and competing business units
~ Implemented and managed charge-back systems for individual and common area square footage used
~ Negotiation management with real estate brokers and property owners
~ Management of communications between property owners and leasing firms for maintenance issues

 

Facility Management Skills
~ Vendor routine work scheduling, contract negotiation, and service delivery coordination
~ Furniture specification and installation

Life & Property Safety
~ Coordinated security audits
~ Coordinated the selection, installation, operation, and training for standard security systems
~ Coordinated the selection, installation, operation, and training for biometric based security systems
~ Coordinated life safety evacuations and drills (earthquake, fire, chemical spill, person threats)

 

Asset Management
~ Coordinated property audits and asset ownership inventories
~ Selected, installed, and maintained asset management software (including bar coding and prox tagging)
~ Worked with internal risk management and insurers to identify risks and implement solutions
~ Worked with police and security departments to identify facility and asset protection gaps for correction
~ Developed and implemented physical security plans for high-security environments
